OFAI Candidate Mentoring Day

The Ontario Fire Administration Inc. (OFAI) is hosting our second annual Candidate Mentoring Day on Saturday, October 21, 2017

Our inaugural Candidate Mentoring Day, held last September, was a great success. Building on that momentum, we are bringing you a 2017 event that provides valuable advice and tips to OFAI candidates in all areas of municipal fire service recruitment.  Last year’s event was highly regarded by both candidates and our municipal fire service partners. This year’s event promises to be no different!

The Candidate Mentoring Day is the perfect opportunity for candidates to interact with municipal fire service professionals, who are directly responsible for hiring firefighters. Hosted at the Garry W. Morden Centre in Mississauga, the Candidate Mentoring Day offers you the chance to participate in four interactive, 60-minute sessions, which are meant to assist you as you work towards a career in the fire service. Members of OFAI’s partner municipalities will share insight on how to achieve success when pursuing a career with the fire service.

Topics for our 2017 event include:

  • Resume and cover letter writing
  • Application process
  • Interviewing skills
  • Additional training options that candidates may want to consider (or not consider)
  • How to market yourself to potential employers

New this year, we have added a lunchtime networking session, where candidates have the opportunity to meet with CTS municipal partners in an informal setting.

The mentoring day is offered FREE of charge to candidates who hold valid OFAI Candidate Testing certificates.  Candidates are required to register to attend.
