OFAI Candidate Mentoring Day

Ontario Fire Administration Inc. (OFAI) is hosting our fourth annual Candidate Mentoring Day on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

The OFAI Candidate Mentoring Day provides opportunities for candidates to interact with fire service professionals who are directly responsible for hiring firefighters in their respective municipalities. Hosted by Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services at the Garry W. Morden Centre, the Candidate Mentoring Day offers you the chance to participate in four interactive, 80-minute sessions, to assist you as you work towards a career as a firefighter. Members of OFAI’s partner municipalities will share their unique insight on how to achieve success when pursuing a career in the fire service.

Last year’s event was an exceptionally beneficial day for both candidates and our municipal fire service partners. This year’s event promises to be even better!  Fire service personnel and human resource professionals from Markham, Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga, Central York, Barrie, Owen Sound, Ports Toronto and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) will be in attendance, ready to provide valuable advice and tips to candidates in all areas of municipal fire service recruitment.

Topics for our 2019 event include:

  • Resume and cover letter writing skills;
  • Application process;
  • Interviewing skills; and
  • Municipal roundtables-A networking session hosted by Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Toronto Fire Services and Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services.

The mentoring day is offered FREE of charge to candidates who hold valid OFAI Candidate Testing certificates.  Preference will be given to those who have completed all three stages.  Candidates must register to attend.
